Structural diversity disturbance regime and succession of selected beech - dominated and mixed natural forests and the research of a yew /Taxus baccata L./ restoration in the beech forest ecosystems of Slovakia

The forest ontogenesis will be researched on the calamity site /6.1ha/ located in the Badín natural forest, created by the wind disturbance in 1947. The growth and mortality of sallow-tree will be analyzed using the growth models and the dendrochronology. The results will allow creating the model of the forest restoration through the utilization of the natural succession. The structural diversity and disturbances in the beech-dominated natural forests will be analyzed in the orographic units Vihorlat and Poloniny. The problem of the yew restoration will be studied in the NNR Pavelcovo and NNR Plavno, as well a in the commercially - managed forests and protection forests located in the orographic units Starohorské Mts. and Strážovské Mts.
