Investigation of soil as a part of the landscape is associated with the determination and evaluation of soil properties and patterns of their changes. Especially forest soils exhibit a large heterogeneity, as the trees directly and indirectly influence the above- and belowground soil environment. Main goal of the project is to analyze and clarify the spatial variability of soil properties and their spatial relationships in natural forest ecosystems which are not affected by human activity, and which enable the study of natural processes (without anthropogenic pressure) as well as their effect on differentiation of soil properties. In addition, information regarding spatial variability of soil properties at different scales and for different soil depth will be obtained.
