The project primarily addresses: the processes of water flow in terrestrial ecosystems, water balance, precipitation regime, transpiration and evaporation, and their quantification with regard to the importance of water for CO2 sequestration and release by plants and soil in the processes of photosynthesis and respiration representing parts of energy fluxes in ecosystems. The impact of drought as a stress factor affecting physiological processes and their disturbances via water uptake, economy and release, photosynthesis, respiration of ecosystems.
