Global climate changes bring weather extremes which in unusual extent cause damage as much as destruction of forests, in central Europe especially spruce ecosystems. Artificial regeneration plays an irreplaceable role in this situation. Important circumstances affecting regeneration are also seedling quality and planting procedures. Intention of the project is obtain new knowledge about effects of any important or progressive items of production, long-term storage and planting of Norway spruce and European beech seedlings (e.g. growth substrate, storage method and temperature, application of soil additives including beneficial microorganisms, containerized seedlings) on their complex, mainly physiological quality, survival and development after planting.
