Based on a comprehensive assessment of the environmental conditions of forest biocenosis. A methodical procedure for quantification of spatial risk of tree browsing by ungulates game will be volved. Options for growing out ofyoung forest standsout ofthe reach of the game will be analyzed depending on the prevention method. Modern progressive methods of individual tree protection will be tested, including analysesoftheir effect on growth parametersand health status of woody plants. The economical efficiency and environmental impacts will be assessed to verify their effectiveness. Based on the achieved results, the main principles of young stands protection will be proposed, applicable also in differentconditionsof forestrypractice. The issue of forest protection will be solvedin the close relation to the nutritional requirements of game and to the options for its gratification. On the experimental fenced plot the research will also focus on the detection of damages caused by game, depending on the applied supplemental nutrition (type of food-flavoring its attractiveness and nutritional value, etc.). Significant aspects of the project will compare the nutritional value of available natural food (the branches, bark of trees) in a game environment with the test feed (content of essential nutrients, minerals and their true digestibility). Special nutritionists' experiments will be carried out under laboratory conditions.
