Dynamics and the disturbance regime of the subalpine Norway spruce forests in the Low Tatras Mts.

The content of project is oriented on the research of stand dynamics and disturbance regime of remnants of subalpine spruce natural forests in the Nízke Tatry Mts. The research will be aimed on the evaluation of historical disturbance events and quantification of their effect on the investigated ecosystems. Obtained knowledge permits comparison of investigated spruce ecosystems and evaluation of discovered events in the European scale. Achieved information allows development of new silvicultural concepts of close-to-nature forest management as well as the improvement of the existing ones.
