Scientific and Research Activities
He was the coordinator of the projects granted by Slovak Ministry of Education, participant of the 5th and 6th FP, COST projects E 44 and Member of MC FP 1104, APVV projects and 13 realised research projects. Presently, he is a member of MC COST Action CA22155, Network for forest by-products charcoal, resin, tar, potash (EU-PoTaRCh). He was the investigator of the OP R&D project Centre of Excellence. He was the principal investigator of the project "A comprehensive model of wood chain comparative advantages. VEGA 1/0387/13, 2013 – 2015. He was the deputy of principal investigator of VEGA 1/0473/16 Dynamics and determinants of woodbased products market in the Slovak Republic and member of MC COST Action FP1405 Active and intelligent fibre-based packing – Innovations and market introduction. At the present time he is principal investigator of VEGA 1/0666/19 Determination of the development of a wood-based bioeconomy. He is a head of the Economic board - the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Wood Sciences and Technology at Technical University in Zvolen. He is the member of advisory board for CITIES by Slovak Ministry of Environment. He was (Years 2020-2021) the president and presently he is a member of an Executive Board of the International Association for Economics and Management in Wood Processing and Furniture Manufacturing (WoodEMA, i.a.). Experiences and skills of the investigator are documented by his international engagement and active participation in more than 60 international scientific events. During his career, he was the leader of 2 foreign and 3 domestic research projects. He has completed 10 exchange programmes in various European countries, including a 9-month stay at the University of Joensuu (Finland), supported by the CIMO Finnish Government's scholarship (period 2003 to 2004) as a visiting researcher, and an internship in the Montana Community del Casentino, Tuscany, Italy (period 2000-2001) within the framework of the „Leonardo da Vinci“ Economic integration of SMEs to EU dimension in multimedia – placement/exchange programme between the Veb academia Europea and the Technical University in Zvolen.
Overview of educational activities
After a 3-year internal doctoral study at the Department of Marketing, Trade and World Forestry at the Faculty of Wood Sciences and Technology at the Technical University in Zvolen, in 2003 he took up the position of university teacher, where he has been working until now. As an assistant professor, he has provided lectures and exercises since 2000, such as Commodity Science, Wood Commodities, Wood World Resources, World Forestry, and exercises in the subjects Trade in wood and Trade in wood and wood products for students of several study programs at the Technical University in Zvolen. He is the main co-author of the textbooks, author of three scripts and co-author of two scripts for university studies. To supplement the study material, he worked with Professor Ján Borota on the professional monograph Sources of Wood Raw Materials in the World. From 2004 to 2009, he ensured the pedagogical process in the distance form of education at the Technical University in Zvolen in the subject of Wood World Resources. Since 2004, he has been providing teaching in English for visiting students of the ERASMUS program at the Department of Marketing, Business and World Forestry in the subjects of Wood Resources and World Forestry. As part of ensuring the pedagogical process in a foreign language, he has published several teaching materials in English as well. In the course of his teaching practice, he attended several foreign lectures intended for university students in various countries.
