The project focuses on grassland habitats of European importance. It develops supra-national classification of selected habitats, which have not yet been unified at the European level, so that the conditions for their unambiguous delimitation and effective conservation are fulfilled. It aims at gathering and processing of biodiversity data related to these habitats, which increase our knowledge on their current status and contribute to their conservation in favourable conditions. It is also devoted to monitoring of temporal changes of biota in selected habitats resulting in estimation of trends in their development and identification of critical factors for maintenance of their extraordinary biodiversity. The project activities follow the series of running experiments to estimate the effects of management regimes on species composition and diversity of grassland vegetation. The evaluation of these experiments will result in valuable scientific knowledge to be used in nature conservation and landscape planning.
