Present predisposition of forest stands to aggressive bark beetles (Scolytidae) outbreaks and ecological factors determining activity and outbreak of bark beetles in relation to spreading dynamics of infested trees will be analyzed based on a research on permanent and monitoring study plots within both the selected nature reserves and adjacent management forests. Causes and consequences of stress due to recreational utilization of forests in natural reserves will be defined. The limits of reversible or irreversible development of a forest reserve will be quantified in dependence upon the stress factor and the character of a habitat community to manage properly the reserve. The dead wood inventory will be performed in forest reserves in comparison with commercial forests (volume, quantity). The risks of a forest fire will be analyzed in forest reserves.
