Modelling impacts of climate change on growth of tree species in the Carpathians

The aims of the project, through integration of large dendrochronological data across entire Carpathian Mountains, are as follows: (i)analyzis of growth changes of tree species along altitudinal and nutritional gradients within the Carpathian region, (ii) quantification of changes and shifts of ecological amplitudes of main Carpathian tree species, (iii) analysis of changes in carbon turnover in forest ecosystems and (iv) estimation of changes in forest productivity in Caprthians under climate changes scenarios. In addition, the project aims at modeling of growth changes under diffrent climate change scenarios using different growth simulators calibrated using experimental material compiled by the project. Results will essentially contribute to strategic management planning in forestry.
