AQUATIC HERITAGE IN THE DANUBE REGION – PREPARING A SCIENTIFIC NETWORK FOR PRESERVATION ACTION INTEGRATING CITIZENS

AQUA-HERITAGE aims at developing an inter- and transdisciplinary research framework which shall initiate and define actions to document, rehabilitate and sustainably utilize natural heritage resources. We will focus on sites connected to aquatic systems and directly affected and threatened by natural disasters, human actions and destruction. An interdisciplinary team of ecologists, geographers, biologists, cultural scientists, managers and tourism experts, from three institutions in Austria, Serbia and Slovakia will cooperate. Case studies of protected areas within Austria, Slovakia and Serbia will support defining the research framework and preparing the project proposal.
